Major League Soccer sides have released their salary details and it makes for interesting reading.
Some of the biggest names in world football now ply their trade in the States.
But neither men are the highest paid player in the MLS.
The Toronto FC wizard is on a reported $5.6 million (£4.3 million) base salary – $7.1 million (£5.5 million) including bonuses.
‘Gio’ has been at the Canadian outfit since 2015 following his transfer from Juventus.
Rooney, 33, makes $2.7 million (£2.09 million) a year while Ibrahimovic is ‘just’ on $1.5 million (£1.16 million).
Meanwhile, in second place, Michael Bradley who also plays for Toronto FC. He’s raking in $6 million (£4.6 million).
Los Angeles FC’s Carlos Vela, whose played at Arsenal, West Brom, among others, is on base salary of $4.5 million (£3.48 million).
Bayern Munich old boy Bastian Schweinsteiger is earning $6.1 million (£4.72 million) a year at Chicago Fire.
LA Galaxy’s Giovani dos Santos, New York City FC’s David Villa, Toronto FC’s Jozy Altidore, Montreal Impact’s Ignacio Piatti and Colorado Rapids Tim Howard complete the top ten.
