The 40-man shortlist for the prestigious Golden Boy award has been revealed by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
The award goes to the best young player in Europe over the past year and has been won by some big names.
Liverpool’ Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot and Manchester City’s Phil Foden all make the shortlist.
Celtic’s Odsanne Edouard is also on the list alongside Roma’s Justin Kluivert, Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt and Real Madrid’s Vinicus Junior.
Unsurprisingly, Mbappe is favourite to scoop the award for the second successive year following his World Cup triumph with France, where he scored four goals for his country. The shortlist will be cut to 20 next month before the winner is chosen in December.
