Barcelona defender Yerry Mina clearly underestimated the brilliance of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez on his arrival to the club, making perhaps the stupidest decision of his career to date.
Mina, who joined the club from Palmeiras in a £10.5 million deal earlier this year, decided to try and make a positive impression on his first day in training, but ended up losing 50 euros every day in the process.
“When I arrived, to create a good atmosphere I started to bet with Messi and Suarez to see who took the best free-kicks in training,” Mina said to Bocas via Mundo Deportivo.
“Before I knew it they were taking 50 euros a day off me. And I was like, ‘What, I’m paying for these guys to go shopping. But the truth is those monsters put the ball wherever they want it. They are fantastic people and they are wizards.” he continued.
Mina has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp in recent days, and when he was asked about his future, he seemed unsure but calm.
“I have no idea, but I’m calm. I am 23 years old and there is still a lot to play, “he said.
“My idea is always to play, to enjoy. This was my dream, go to Barcelona. I could go to other teams, Borussia loved me, others from Germany, Italy and England were interested, but I do not regret it. I have learned a lot and I have improved as a person and as a player, ”
The 23-year-old enjoyed a brilliant World Cup campaign with Colombia, starring in his sides defence while scoring goals including a header against England.
Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo has already snapped up Portugal keeper Rui Patricio, Willy Boly, Raul Jimenez, among many others and is is reported that he is interested in Mina.
He also dropped Manchester United a follow on Instagram earlier, according to some on Twitter.
